Stress Relievers

Step 1. Questions

What if your friend is feeling too much stress? Maybe he or she has been working very hard on a difficult project, or is involved in a stressful conflict, or just feels overwhelmed by too many things to do. How could you help your friend reduce stress?

For this e-Journal project, you will research and plan a relaxing day for you and your friend, a day with as little stress as possible. You also will use examples from the day to recommend strategies for reducing stress every day.

Here are some ideas to get you started, as well as some questions to think about and research.
  • Music helps people relax. What kind of music would you suggest to help your friend?
  • Gardens help people relax. Would your friend enjoy visiting a garden, or working in a garden?
  • Pets help people relax. In what ways can your friend spend time with pets?
  • Spending time in nature helps people relax. Where might you and your friend spend time outdoors?
  • How else can you help your friend reduce stress?
First, visit the Web sites listed in Step 2 to get ideas. You may also use search engines to research other Web sites. Then, follow Steps 3 and 4 to write your plan for a relaxing day.
